About

Mohammad Aftabuzzaman, a human rights activist and an expert in the development sector was born in Satkhira, Bangladesh in 1976. He completed his Bachelors of Science and Maters of Science from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After completion of his studies, he commenced his career at a research based think- tank, ‘Institute for Research and Development (IRD)’ in January 2002 where he worked till April 2009. In May 2009, he joined the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT), the local branch of a USA based think-tank where he is currently serving as its Assistant Director.

Mohammad Aftabuzzaman has participated in various national and international seminars, workshops and training programs. He has also conducted several workshops, seminars and round table conferences at national and international levels. He is a regular contributor to daily and weekly newspapers on human rights and environment issue.

Mohammad Atabuzzaman has been serving as the Vice Chairman of APON Foundation since 2006 and the Project Director of APON Education Project since 2008. During his tenure as Project Director, the APON School Program, which commenced with the provision of education to only 5 street children, rapidly expanded with the number of students rising to over 100 in less than 3 years.

Now I am working at SAWAB FOUNDATION. This experience is highly motivating and enlightening in my life.
