What We Do at SAWAB FOUNDATION

At SAWAB Foundation, we support the poorest and most vulnerable members of society, helping them secure their rights to education, food, shelter, work, basic healthcare, and representation in decision-making processes that impact their lives. Our beneficiaries include widows, orphans, the homeless, disabled individuals, and marginalized groups. Additionally, we advocate for the rights of impoverished communities through campaigns focused on food security and education.

Working through our offices and partner organizations, SAWAB Foundation has significantly impacted millions of lives across Bangladesh in the fight against poverty.

Where Does SAWAB FOUNDATION Work?

Since our founding in 2015, SAWAB Foundation has supported projects in over 70 districts across Bangladesh, creating substantial and lasting change. We implement emergency support, short-term, and long-term projects tailored to the needs of each community. Our programs are always developed in close collaboration with local communities and partner organizations to address the root causes of poverty, not just alleviate its symptoms.

Where Do Our Funds Come From?

SAWAB Foundation’s funding comes from national charities, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), private companies, individuals, businesses, community groups, and government bodies. Notably, we do not receive funding from international organizations, allowing us to operate independently and remain focused on our mission.

Is SAWAB FOUNDATION a Political Organization?

SAWAB Foundation is not affiliated with any political or religious groups, but we do advocate for social justice. We work with poor and marginalized communities to encourage governments and national institutions to address the root causes of poverty. Campaigning is an essential part of our work, as it can be as impactful as direct financial support in fostering long-term change.

We empower communities to hold local and national governments accountable for their responsibilities to provide essential rights and services. We also collaborate with government bodies to help build their capacity for effectively combating poverty.

Can You Volunteer?

SAWAB Foundation prefers to employ local talent wherever possible but occasionally offers volunteer opportunities within various districts in Bangladesh. Volunteers enhance our programs by bringing new skills, experience, and perspectives. Volunteering provides valuable work experience and training, allowing individuals to make a direct contribution to our mission.

How Much Does SAWAB FOUNDATION Spend on Administration?

Accountability is central to our work, and we take donor trust seriously. In 2015, for every BDT 1,000 donated, we were able to spend 100% directly on our work for the poor, thanks to the dedication of unpaid volunteers and the coverage of administrative and fundraising costs through local donations.

We strive for transparency in how funds are allocated and use rigorous monitoring and auditing systems to ensure donations are spent effectively and for their intended purpose.

How Does Child Sponsorship Work?

Child sponsorship with SAWAB Foundation directly benefits projects that support and uplift a child’s community. Sponsors have the opportunity to see the positive changes their contributions make and build a personal connection with a child in need. Additionally, sponsors help fund programs that direct resources to where they are most needed, including supporting orphans and children in vulnerable families.

Join us in making a real, lasting difference in the lives of the most vulnerable people in Bangladesh.
