“SAWAB Foundation’s Noble Initiative to Improve the Living Standards of the Poor and Ultra-poor”
Since its establishment, SAWAB Foundation, a private and social development organization, has been working tirelessly for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh, focusing on the poor, helpless, and underprivileged segments of society, as well as those affected by sudden natural disasters.
Continuing this commitment, on November 10 at 3:00 PM, an event was held in Balagram, Jaldhaka Upazila, Nilphamari District. The event marked the foundation stone laying of SAWAB Foundation’s new office, a gathering of community members, and the distribution of income-generating assets aimed at improving the living standards of 20 impoverished families. These assets included livestock (3 cows and 12 goats) and grocery items distributed to 5 small shops.
The event, hosted by SAWAB Foundation’s Program Officer Mr. Md. Borhan Uddin, featured Mr. S. M. Rasheduzzaman, Chairman of SAWAB Foundation, as the chief guest. The keynote speaker was Maulana Obaidullah Salafi, President of Rabeya Chowdhury Women’s College and a renowned social worker. The main speaker was Maulana Abdur Rashid, Principal of Chitmirganj Kamil Madrasa, Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. Special guests included Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh, Professor of the Arabic Department at Chitmirganj Kamil Madrasa, and Mr. Lokman Hossain Talukdar, Program Manager at SAWAB Foundation. The event was chaired by Mr. Mir Sohel, representing the donor family.
In his speech, the Chairman of SAWAB Foundation, S. M. Rasheduzzaman, highlighted that the organization has been dedicated to serving humanity since its inception. He noted that the foundation has implemented various humanitarian initiatives in the region, including the installation of tube wells, rehabilitation of the needy, distribution of winter clothing, and cataract surgeries. He emphasized SAWAB Foundation’s reputation for coordinating with both local and higher-level government authorities in the implementation of its projects, and expressed hope that this commitment would continue in the future.
