Asma Begum: A Story of Resilience and Transformation
Asma Begum, wife of Shah Alam, lives in Sadhapur,
Bongaon, Savar. For years, her family struggled under the weight of poverty. Shah Alam’s irregular income barely covered their basic needs, and each day became a battle to provide food for their children and survive the harsh realities of life.
During this time of hardship, SAWAB Foundation stepped in to extend a helping hand. Asma received one goat, essential resources, and support to start a small home garden and chicken rearing project. This initiative provided her with not just tools, but also hope—a new beginning to dream of a brighter, secure future for her family.
With unwavering determination, Asma began cultivating her home garden, nurturing it with care. Gradually, the garden started producing fresh vegetables, significantly reducing her family’s food expenses and providing nutritious meals for her children. Simultaneously, the chickens and goat began generating income through eggs, milk, and small-scale sales of meat, creating a sustainable livelihood for her family.
🌱 Today, Asma Begum is a shining example of resilience and success. Her small yet meaningful initiatives have brought stability, food security, and a steady income to her household. No longer burdened by uncertainty, she now dreams of expanding her efforts—adding more livestock and crops to ensure an even better future for her children.
💬 Reflecting on her journey, Asma shares:
“SAWAB Foundation gave me hope when I thought all was lost. Their support allowed me to stand on my feet and provide for my family. I am truly thankful for their kindness and generosity.”
Asma’s story is a powerful testament to the impact of timely support. It proves that with the right opportunities and determination, families can rise above hardship and thrive.
